Abstract

While meditation derives from religious traditions, it is a behavior accessible to investigation. Recent physiological and behavioral studies are surveyed, and meditation behavior is described. Greater awareness of fellings, enhanced interpersonal perception, and increased present-centeredness are behaviors transferred from meditation, and facilitative both to the psychotherapist and to interpersonal functioning.
