Abstract

It was shown in a group of 59 patients with large thermic injuries that neither surgical treatment and the type of anesthesia and/or possibly some other therapy such as modern antibiotics, nor the age factor influence significantly liver changes which can almost always be found in burns disease. Undoubtedly, primarily the period of sepsis or toxemia has an unfavourable hepatotrophic effect - the decisive role being played by the bacterial infection of wound surfaces. A clinical laboratory and morphological picture of liver changes is given.
