Abstract

In Inter-Vehicle Communication(IVC) systems, all vehicles need to receive accurate information while moving in a high risk accident area. Although an expected currently-considered access method for IVC, the CSMA/CA scheme, performs the carrier detection and information collision avoidance, it increases in transmission delay with increasing transmission terminals, and interference due to hidden terminal problem. In this paper, a novel method to avoid radio congestion, i.e. not sending useless RF signal from vehicles with low collision risk, is proposed when more than one vehicle traveling in the same lane. Through a simulation study based on proposed method, improvement in information transmission rate and transmission delay is shown in an urban city environment.
