Abstract

Since the 1970s, the Puerto Rican feminism has become active, and in the 1980s it had a lively movement against domestic violence. This is because in Puerto Rican society domestic violence is one of the most serious problems that are violence. They are of great urgency. At the same time, violence against women is a reflection of the deep structures of sexal and economic inequality in society. The society expects men to carry out their patriarchal role in their domestic sphere. And the abuse toward women can be seen as a representation of male power. So the domestic violence has become a big issue of feminism.
