Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out the specific accident factor of older workers by comparing them to younger workers. The data consist of 99 occupational accidents in which 102 persons were seriously injured. Eighteen of the victims were over 50 years old. The particular accident risk of older employees was getting run over by moving vehicles. In future, work processes will further speed up, and the number of older workers will increase. These two trends are contradictory, and imply an increased accident risk for older employees.
