Abstract

The analysis in question is a safety analysis of a protective device on high speed separators. The aim of the device is to prevent operators from beginning to disassemble the separator before it has stopped completely and to make it impossible to restart it before it is completely reassembled. Without a safe protective device the huge forces within a running separator could erroneously be set free, causing wide risks and damage to the operator, the separator itself and the environment.

The analysis is performed as a project within the Scandinavian SCRATCH programme on risk analysis. This paper gives a short introduction to SCRATCH and then describes this particular project.
