Abstract

Conduct disorders are characterized by repetitive antisocial behaviour that lasts for at least 6 months. There is a strong link with family dysfunction, though genetic factors can have a role. Hyperkinetic disorder (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) is characterized by early onset of overactive behaviour, impulsiveness and marked inattention. Possible aetiological factors include brain dysfunction, mental retardation, head injury, early social deprivation and family discord.
