Abstract

This paper presents a method of evaluating the reliability of two-unit redundant systems given safety factors of individual components of the system and the parameters of component strength distributions and load distribution. The analysis has been carried out for three different systems: namely, parallel system, standby system and cascade system. Component strength variables and load variables are assumed to follow normal distributions. The one-to-one relationship between reliability and safety factor for a given set of parameters is also discussed. Finally, a few numerical results are presented.
