Abstract

This is a piece of apparatus to measure an individual's eye-hand coördination with reference to a moving object. The apparatus consists of an elaborate battery of four electric meters, a mechanical resistance disturber, and sliding resistance contact. The general principle is that of the Wheatstone bridge, and the task of the observer is to keep the indicator of one of the meters as near zero as possible by shifting the contact on the slide resistance to compensate for the changes in resistance introduced by the mechanical disturber. These changes cannot be foreseen, and the situation becomes a genuine pursuit of the shifting indicator needle. Interesting practice curves are obtained from the use of the instrument. It may be employed for detecting the influence of superimposed nutritional factors, fatigue, industrial conditions, and the like. From Psych Bulletin 18:12:00633.
