Abstract

While it is important to maintain contact between natural mothers and their children in foster care, and to involve those mothers in case planning, there are somewhat unique difficulties present in cases in which the mother is incarcerated. This article discusses some of these difficulties as well as the need for policy-directed research exploring the implementation of permanency planning with this client group.
