Abstract

This paper examines conceptual issues in the study of attachment and the relevance of Bowlby's theory for the study of attachment in adopted children. Current attachment research and assessment procedures are presented which suggest avenues for studying and measuring attachment. A definition is offered, and research and clinical implications of the use of attachment concepts with adoptive families are presented.
