Abstract

The safety of nuclear power stations in England and Wales is under continuous review and fire is one of the hazards covered in this process. The principles underlying the fire assessment of nuclear safety-related plant are presented and the methodology used in undertaking the assessments is described. Typical findings are outlined and some of the particular fire protection features of nuclear power stations are noted.
