Abstract

Old age is characterized by curtailment of mobility, frequent physical impairments and diminished mental ability. Old people need an adaptation of housing equipment to their reduced physical abilities: smaller reaching areas in the kitchen, safe bath tubs with vertical and horizontal hand grips, doors without thresholds, and non-slip floorings as well as relatively large living rooms, since they spend most of their time at home.
