Abstract

This study sought to examine the effects of scenario-based training (SBT) on pilot's use of the Ballistic Recovery System, an emergency parachute used to prevent terrain collision. Of particular interest was the point at which the pilot decides to deploy the BRS. The results showed participants in the SBT condition performed significantly better than participants in a traditional training condition on several measures. Although additional research is needed, these results likely indicate that SBT is an effective method for training parachute use and emergency procedure.
