Abstract

In order to determine the extent to which color defective observers are able to recognize colors presented on a VDU, a choice reaction time experiment was carried out. The experiment determined the effect of advance training, stimulus size and simultaneous color contrast on the performance of subjects, segregated into groups according to the nature of their color vision defect. Analysis of the data shows that type of color vision defect and the simultaneous color contrast influence the number of errors made by the subjects. Suggestions for future experiments and for the possible improvement of performance are given.
