Abstract

This paper is a summary of a descriptive study of all alleged child sexual abusers identified in an area of South East London by their alleged victims' inclusion on two local authority Child Protection Registers. The results provide evidence of a high prevalence (besides their alleged sexual assaults) of physical violence by the alleged perpetrators against female partners and children. A subgroup of particularly 'at risk' yet difficult to work with families was also identified. Questions are posed about the differences between the two study groups in the context of the demographic similarities of the two local authority areas.
