Abstract

Over 6000 youths in grades 6 through 12, from rural communities, were surveyed for prevalence of licit and illicit drug use over a one year period ending June 30, 1990. The PRIDE CANADA survey indicated drug use has decreased, although not significantly, since 1988. The most prevalent drugs of abuse are alcohol and cigarettes followed by marihuana, uppers, inhalants, downers, hallucinogens and cocaine.
