Abstract

The propofol blood concentration of an 81-year-old woman accidentally administered 2000 mg as a pre-operative sedative was determined by gas chromatographic analysis with mass spectral detection. The cardiac blood concentration was determined to be 5.7 mg/L. This appears to be the highest propofol level reported in the literature to date.
