Abstract

A seed introduced into the eye of an 8-year-old boy through a penetrating corneal wound became embedded in the iris. Many months later it germinated. The germinating seed was successfully removed from the iris and anterior chamber with retention of excellent visual acuity. The seed was identified as a dicotyledonous seedling of the family Compositae.
