Abstract

The biomechanics of the head injuries is a most needed area of knowledge for the prevention of head injuries. Features of anatomy constituting natural protective parts as well as weak links in the injury process are discussed. Acceleration of the head can cause intracranial damage. The injury mechanisms associated with linear and angular acceleration of the head are presented. In addition comments are made on some injury criteria employed in the evaluation of head injury.
