Abstract

Firearms manufacturers around the world put a huge emphasis on the safety mechanisms of the firearms they produce, making the safety of their use a prime concern. These safeties are in the forms of disconnectors - preventing more than one discharge per trigger pull, to more sophisticated mechanisms such as: half-cock hammer positions, magazine and manual safeties, locking of firing pin, de-cocking modes for the firing pin/hammer assembly and grip mechanisms. We will show in this article certain ways in which specific safety mechanisms can be circumvented with possible disastrous results.
