Abstract

Report on severe damage of the left middle and internal ear, caused by a knitting-needle. Stapes together with footplate had been torn out of the oval window, incus and stapedial articulation had been disconnected. This damage caused tinnitus, severe giddiness and deafness. After the ear had been operated, giddiness and tinnitus ceased within a few hours. Using infusions after the operation (Rheomacrodex and Trental), hearing largely recovered.
