Abstract

FINDINGS of the questionnaire-based study "Youth and Mass Sports 1987" are presented. Though the value of remaining healthy and efficient is generally recognized, only every second adolescent is actively involved in sports. There is also a gap between sport-related value concepts and own physical activity. Its reduction requires to take into account and promote such complex factors as physical capacity, a sport-favouring climate at home, at school and at work. Preferences for the various forms of leisure sport activities should be acknowledged.
