Abstract

ince 1947, Minnesota, and 13 other states, participated in a study to determine the degree of relationship that exists between highway accidents and geometric design features. Minnesota was also asked to include advertising signs and access points along the routes of the original study. The roadway elements considered in the study included curves, intersections, various structures and railroad crossings along with the size, shape, color and placement of advertisements. Presented in this paper is a brief evaluation of the findings. New methods of tabulating and evaluating the information is needed before a comprehensive report can be prepared.
