Abstract

PURPOSE of this study was to examine attitudes of judges or lawyers in court in relation to acceptance of alternative measures in juvenile justice systems. Sample consisted of 50 law professionals working in courts. The instrument measured judges attitudes, acceptance of alternative measures, and the social norm. For the analysis of data a structural equations model was specified.

RESULTS show that attitudes had a direct effect on acceptance of alternative measures, whereas the social norm affected attitudes; the explained variance was 22%.

RESULTS show importance of the psychological variables in the prediction of decision-making of judges and other law professionals of the courts.
