Abstract

Personen, die unter ADHS leiden, werden in verstaerktem Masse durch Unfaelle und andere Verkehrsdelikte auffaellig. Ursache hierfuer sind die stoerungsbedingten Aufmerksamkeitsdefizite, der impulsive Verhaltensstil sowie die hohe Komorbiditaet mit Alkohol- und Drogenmissbrauch. Damit kommt dieser Erkrankung Relevanz fuer die Fahreignung und die Begutachtung der Fahreignung zu. Durch eine Behandlung der ADHS koennen sich die Eignungsvoraussetzungen deutlich verbessern, da sich die medikamentoese Behandlung mit Stimulanzien als sehr erfolgreich, auch im Hinblick auf eine Verbesserung der verkehrsrelevanten Leistungsfunktionen und der Verkehrsanpassung, erwiesen hat. Die Behandlung alleine ist jedoch noch keine hinreichende Voraussetzung fuer eine guenstige Verkehrsprognose. Vielmehr sollte im Falle einer medizinisch-psychologischen Eignungsuntersuchung im Einzelfall geprueft werden, ob die Fehlverhaltensweisen schon ausreichend verlernt sind und ob krankheits- und/oder medikamentoes bedingte Leistungsdefizite vorliegen. (A) ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH: People with ADHD are more often found to be involved in automobile accidents as well as attained a higher number of driving violations as compared with the statistical norm. The main reasons found to be the cause include: attention deficit due to distractions, impulsive actions, as well as the elevated co-morbidity with alcohol and drugs. ADHD should be considered and reviewed as an influential factor when considering the driving aptitude of an individual. By treating ADHD with certain stimulatory medic actions very successful results have been obtained. These results include a better ability to adapt to traffic situations, avoiding accidents as well as better following traffic regulations. In certain instances a psychological evaluation should be made, to assess deviant behaviour, and progression of healthy attitudes towards driving. It is important that psychological and educational means are used in combination with ADHD treatment to influence the individual at hand, and to better deviant behaviour patterns. Extensive diagnostical effort is needed to determine whether an individual with ADHD has performance deficits due to medication or due to ADHD.
