Abstract

The walking speed required to use a pedestrian crossing in the UK is 1.2m per second (m/s). A sample of 3,145 adults over the age of 65 was assessed to find average walking speeds. The results showed an average walking speed in men of 0.9m/s and in women of 0.8m/s.
