Abstract

This article presents an approach for the kinematic analysis of a bicycle. The kinematic model is established to show rigorously the effects of the steering and roll actions on the positions (linear and angular) and velocities of the main parts of the bicycle. Their relations with the key parameters of bicycle's motion including trail and the effective steering angle are also established.
