Abstract

The author of the above paper would like to point out some errors in the published article. These errors and their corrections are detailed below:

In the sixth paragraph of Section2 the following text appears:

“Initial review of the Boston crime laboratory identified that 10% of the 200 samples cases resulted in a misidentification of a specific weapon to the recovered scene evidence.”

This should read:

“Initial review of the Detroit crime laboratory identified that 10% of the 200 sampled cases [13] resulted in a misidentification of a specific weapon to the recovered scene evidence.”

In the References section, the following text appears for reference 13:

“[13] USA Today, Error-Prone Detroit Crime Lab Shut Down, USAToday. Accessed via http://www.senate.michigan.gov/sfa/Publications/Notes/2009Notes/NotesJanFeb09bb.pdf 2008, September 25 (on 24/06/2015).”

This should read:

“[13] USA Today, Error-Prone Detroit Crime Lab Shut Down, USA Today. Accessed via https://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/nation/2008-09-25-crime-lab_N.htm 2008, September 25 (on 24/06/2015).”

The author would like to apologise for these errors.
