Abstract

A 12-story precast panel building is studied for seismic loading. A typical shear wall consists of concrete panels extending over one storey and one bay and modelled as multi-level substructures. Continuity across horizontal joints is determined to exist for earthquake excitation of moderate intensity, whereas along vertical joints discrete connectors are employed. A parameter study evaluates dynamic response, with emphasis on vertical connector stiffness requirements and structural integrity of the panel assemblage.
