Abstract

Terrorism is a public health issue.1 It impacts health directly and indirectly, with an estimated 25 500 deaths worldwide in 2016.2 Of those attacks, half, and 60% of all fatalities, occurred in just three countries, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. By contrast, the Global Terrorism Database shows that Europe and North America suffered relatively few successful terror attacks.
