Abstract

Commuting trends have changed dramatically over the past decade, and many US cities are seeing an increase in the number of bicycle commuters. According to estimates by the US Census Bureau, the number of bike commuters in 2015 was around 885 188, representing a 60% increase over the last 10 years. Like any other form of active commuting, biking is economical for direct user and public infrastructure costs.
