Abstract

The article considers capabilitiesof unmanned urban passenger transport in solving complex problems that have arisen as a result of the uncontrolled process ofautomobilizationamong population. Estimates of the impact of urban passenger transporton reduction of environmental pollution and number of traffic congestions on the city road network are provided. The widespread introduction of unmanned vehicles asurban passenger transport will also allow to reduce the number of road traffic accidents with victims.

RESULTS of the analysis of expected commercial use ofunmanned vehicles of urban passenger transport are provided. It is shown that the prospect of using the unmanned vehicles asurban passenger transportis also associated with reduction of expenses on driver salaries. Estimates of reduction of expenses underthis article due to transition to unmanned urban passenger transport are provided. It is also shown that the use ofunmanned urban passenger transportwill be accompanied with reduction oflinear time loss of about 30%. The main risks that prevent the widespread introduction of unmanned vehicles asurban passenger transport are considered. Classification of these risks developed on the basis of analysis of the reports of participants of international conferences on the subject of unmanned vehicles is provided. Assessment of possibilities of elimination and/or minimization of negative effects and risks was carried out in order to ensure successful phased introduction ofunmanned vehicles asurban passenger transport. It is shown that at the first stage of implementation it is promising to useunmanned passenger vehicles (buses of large and extra-large capacity) on urban and suburban routesorganized with the use of BRT (Bus Rapid Transit, 2018) based on organization of the route traffic of passenger vehicles ofurban passenger transporton dedicated linesphysically separated from the rest of the traffic flow. It is shown that another important problem that needs to be solvedat the initial stage is the development and practical implementation of technologies and hardware and software of the dispatch control system forunmanned urban passenger transportoperating according to BRT technology.
