Abstract

Management of traffic systems safety is a complex management task. The application of conventional methods to approach the analysis based system integration does not guarantee achieving the preset result. On the other hand, the application of synthesis based system integration allows to create the system based on the final result. This paper has studied the issue related to pedestrian crossings and the danger of pedestrian collision with a moving vehicle. Pedestrian crossings are the place of increased danger, because it is the place where pedestrians and cars most often intersects. This situation is aggravated by the fact that, on the one hand, pedestrians have little knowledge of the traffic rules and are confident in their right to cross the road not paying attention to the moving car. On the other hand, drivers pay attention only to the pedestrian presence and absence on the roadway, neglecting the traffic rules prescribing to reduce the speed before the pedestrian crossing. One of the methods that causes drivers to reduce the speed is the use of a stereo effect when "zebra" marking on the roadway. As a result, this marking for the driver looks like three-dimensional objects lying on the road, which makes him/her reflexively reduce the speed. In the course of studying this issue, the use of 3D "zebra" marking is mathematically justified and its effect on the safety index is estimated. To justify and calculate, the method of synthesis-based system construction is used and inverse control problem is solved.
