Abstract

Issues regarding traffic safety in winter through processing and even spreading of the sand and salt mixture over snow and ice surfaces of roads and sidewalks are examined. A brief review of the existing technical means to improve traffic safety on roads and sidewalks by applying anti-icing materials is provided. A structure of multifunctional transport and technological machine providing operation as per two technologies is developed: even distribution of bulk materials in a truck body during loading, transportation to a destination site, salt dispensing, sand and salt mixing, with simultaneous even spreading of the sand and salt mixture over snow and ice surfaces of roads and sidewalks; even distribution of bulk materials in a truck body during loading, transportation to a destination site and unloading both at the site and while moving. Experimental studies established dependencies of factors affecting even spreading of the sand and salt mixture using the multifunctional transport and technological machine. A numerical analysis of regression models and mathematical processing allowed optimizing basic parameters of the operating mode of the multifunctional transport and technological machine.
