Abstract

This thematic paper explores the development of the occupational health and safety profession in Canada, including: a review of the OHS professional bodies - the national membership and national certification boards, a brief history of the profession in Canada, the impact of the Singapore Accord and the INSHPO Framework, OHS professional certification in context, including accreditation model and the historical development of examination competencies in Canada, an overview of the OHS education in Canada, and the future outlook for the profession.
