Abstract

A third hospital unit in Sydney has been banned from training junior doctors amid concerns over alleged bullying among senior staff.

St George Hospital’s ICU had its accreditation to train junior doctors withdrawn by the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand after a routine inspection by a visiting team from the college.

The decision was “effective immediately,” said the college. It sent a letter detailing its reasons to the hospital’s management but said that the contents were “confidential.”

However, local media reports said that the move was the result of “protracted allegations of bullying and dysfunction” in the hospital’s ICU.
