Abstract

The Grand Challenges for Social Work introduced by the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare (AASWSW) offer a variety of opportunities for the profession to confront pressing societal issues. Each challenge brings renewed possibilities and pathways to address these far-reaching concerns through professional social work skills across varying levels of practice, policy, and research. The challenge to stop family violence is based on interdisciplinary cooperation among fields that aim to engage in ways to prevent abuse, recognize it earlier, support families, and end cycles of violence that can persist across generations (AASWSW, 2017).
