Abstract

Aims: Military environments can increase soldiers' aggression or suicidal thoughts due to their stressful nature and also due to the easy access of troops to weapons. Reducing such thoughts in military soldiers has recently been considered by the researchers. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions based on reducing stress on suicidal thoughts and aggression in Soldiers with the normal duty of in the Malek-e-Ashtar Arak Garrison Training Course.

Materials & Methods: The research method was experimental and pre-test and post-test with control group. To do this research, 40 soldiers with high score in suicidal thoughts were randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups. Beckchr's suicidal thoughts scale and aggression questionnaire were used to collect information in pre-test and post-test. For the experimental group, stress-based mind-awareness was applied for 8 sessions. Data were analyzed by SPSS software using covariance analysis.


Results: The results showed that mindfulness based on stress reduction had a significant effect on reducing suicidal ideation and aggression.
Conclusion: Mindfulness based on reduction of stress has been effective in decreasing suicidal thoughts and aggression of soldiers in the normal duty of Malek-e-Ashtar Arak garrison. This method can be used to reduce the psychological problems of soldiers
