Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) report entitled:"Preventing suicide: A global imperative"is a milestone for suicide prevention[1].This report consists of five chapters that include:"Global epidemiology of suicide and suicide at-tempts","Risk and protective factors, and related interventions","The current situation in suicide prevention","Working towards a comprehensive national response for suicide prevention" and "The way forward for suicide prevention".

In chapter two it has been stated that access to the methods of suicide is considered as a major risk factor. As a result,restriction of access to the methods of suicide is also considered as a major intervention for suicide prevention.The report further emphasizes on three worldwide commonmeans of suicide i.e."self-poisoning with pesticides","hanging"and"jumping".
