Abstract

Good quality surveillance data are the foundation of public health work. For opioid analgesic- and heorin-related deaths, however, the methods used to classify deaths on death certificates may be leading to a substantial under-count of these deaths, resuting in surveillance data that inaccurately portray the magnitude of this public health problem.
