Abstract

We present the imaging findings of a 53-year-old woman who was brought to Emergency Department in comatose state after attempting suicide by hanging.

She underwent non-contrast head and neck Computed Tomography that showed bilateral lenticular shaped hyperdense collections in both orbits, with extraconal location, lying against the orbital roof [Figure 1]; no bone fractures were noted. These collections were referred to subperiosteal hematomas. Three days after admission, her consciousness improved. She was extubated and complained about blurred vision and vertical diplopia. Magnetic Resonance Imaging confirmed the presence of well-circumscribed hematomas in the superior orbital subperiosteal spaces on both sides, hyperintense on both T1- and T2-weighted imaging [Figure 2]. There were no signs of optic nerve involvement.
