Abstract

Beliefs about child sexual abuse in the United States are examined from an evolutionary, cross-cultural, and developmental perspective. The lack of theoretical consensus in the field is noted and its effects evaluated. Recommendations regarding development of interdisciplinary professional standards and protocols are presented.
