Abstract

Knee ligament failure and tibia fracture are both important in terms of their frequency and long-term consequences in pedestrian serious injuries. This study developed probability functions for these injuries by applying a statistical method to human impact response data available from the literature. In addition, the functions were converted to the relationship between injury probability and injury measures for the Flexible Pedestrian Legform Impactor (Flex-PLI) using response correlations between human and Flex-PLI FE models obtained from a past study.
