Abstract

This feature explores general weather impacts on arterial roads and traffic flow and examines the development of tools to improve traffic signal operations. Six studies that quantify the impacts of inclement weather on arterial operations are reviewed and two case studies of weather-responsive signal control operations that have resulted in improved arterial mobility are described.
