Abstract

Editors' Note: Articles in this journal cover a wide range of topics and disciplines. So that the manuscripts will have significance to those not in the area of expertise covered, from time to time there will be commentaries published with articles. It is hoped that this practice will help those in the medical field to have a better appreciation of engineering related topics, and vice versa. Thus, the commentaries are not intended to be a review of the paper, but rather a discussion of the paper's significance and applicability for professionals in related fields.
