Abstract

There is currently much confusion regarding the meaning of the term "concussion." In an attempt to bring some order out of the chaos in which the subject finds itself, various aspects of the problem are critically examined. Our main source of knowledge of the concussive phenomena comes from animal experimentation and this fact imposes certain limitations which must be kept in mind when applying the results to human experience.
