Abstract

Religious sectarianism may on occasions mitigate race prejudice, but among the vast majority of members of most sects race prejudice is dominant over sectarianism. In certain cases they are hardly distinguishable. That which gives sectarianism greater power over patriotism or race consciousness is mystical experience. The religious sect has an enduring cultural value.
