Abstract

In view of the psychological ill-effects following burns and scalds in children, it seemed important that some method be developed which would allow better understanding of the personal experience of the injured child. The paper describes a systematic way of exploring what this injury means to the child, and his interpretation of hospitalization and surgery. This method provides a way of building a more complete body of knowledge about the needs of the burned child and his family.
