Abstract

Post-motor vehicle collision analysis of a driver's airbag can assist the accident reconstruction investigators and the court in criminal and civil litigation by providing an answer to the driver question. This paper describes a case in which a combination of analysis for cosmetics and saliva provided support for placing a female suspect behind the steering wheel at the time of the crash. The authors believe the combination of this evidence in post-motor vehicle crash analysis, which assisted the Court in making its decision in October 1999, to be a first in Canada.
